Knuckles's voice in Sonic X

I've been meaning to ask this question here for a while. Why in the world, does Knuckles, who is a 15-16 year old teenager, have a 30 year or so adult voice? It doesn't make any sense. Even though I hated Sonic Underground, Knuckles had a better voice in that Sonic show. It sounded younger. But Sonic X's Knuckles is just awful. :?

I can answer this for you. When 4Kids Entertainment licenced the Sonic X show, they wanted to try to get the voices to sound as close to the then-current game voice cast as possible (which at the time was the Dreamcast Era voice cast), but use their in-house actors so they wouldn't have to spend the massive amount of money necessary to fly out the game cast from California to New York and house them for the duration of the recording. At the time, Knuckles' game voice was being done by Scott Dreier, and 4Kids' Dan Green was the closest they could get to sound like Scott's (and to some degree Michael McGaharn's) performance.

Well, judging from the sound of them, I'm betting that the same person who voices Tails in Sonic X, also voices Chris (the human kid) because they sound so identical like as if Tails ate Chris, or the other way around.

Actually, while they do sound very similar, Tails was voiced by Amy Palant while Chris was voiced by Suzanne Goldish.

Fun fact: Post Sonic X, Suzanne contributed as a recording engineer for both SONIC COLORS and SONIC FREE RIDERS.

Most companys prefer to use adult voice actors because it's easier. Children can only work so many hours a day dur to child labor laws.

There's also the effect of a kid's voice changing as they get older. Skippy Squirrel from Animaniacs is a prime example. You can definitely tell Nathan Ruegger was growing up over the 5 years he voiced Skippy. So much so that they had to artificially shift his voice up in frequency towards the end. Adult voices tend to remain more stable over a longer period of time.

yeah not only that, but in "Adventure Time" they are deciding to follow Fin, the main character, as he grows up, so they can keep the same voice actor and have it make sense.
