Rotor's new look and Cobar's age

Ken wrote Sonic and Knuckles as published by Archie Comics for over 13 years. So anything Sonic and Knuckles goes here!

Rotor's new look and Cobar's age

Postby SynjoDeonecros » Fri Feb 03, 2012 6:50 pm

Okay, something that's been bugging me for a while, and not even bringing it up on Ian's board has given a significant fanwank for it, so I guess I'll go for the source: what was the intention behind Rotor's new "older" look, after the missing year? I mean, the bangs, cheek fuzz and eyeglasses make him look much older than the 18 he's supposed to be. The glasses are of particular irritation for me; why did he get them? There's nothing that hinted that his eyesight was bad, before, so was there some incident in the missing year that made it necessary for him to have those glasses?

Another point of contention for me is Cobar's age; no offense, but he looks like a prune compared to even Rotor or the others, and they're in their early 40's, so for Cobar to look that wilted means he must have been much older than Rotor when they met. So, what age was he meant to be?

Yeah the redesign that Rotor got during the year that Sonic was in space always bugged the crap out of me. Rotor looks way too old.

Cobar's age bothers me. He looks old enough to be a grandfather.

Maverick, the Freedom Fighters had been at war with Eggman for YEARS before the missing year, and they didn't change much from that, so why would Sonic's disappearance force such a major change with them? And don't say it's because Sonic was gone; SOnic was incapacitated and unable to fight with them, in the past, and they managed alright, so why would a year's disappearance change anything? Do they REALLY rely so much on him to fight their battles for them?

Rotor spent 'too much time in front of a computer screen' and it damaged his eyes. *Shrugs*

As for Cobar, he certainly looks a fair bit older than Rotor. Some people just don't age well though. :P
