So what does everyone think of the new "message board" ?

Yeah, what the name says.

The Forums are up and open for business! Yay!!! :D

Quite a difference from the original message board, don't you think?

Ah, finally a system that can actually retain posted messages for more than a few months. Now any notable, funny or revealing discussions will be preserved!

BobR idly plays with the "Message Prune" button...

Heh heh, no I won't do that unless absolutely necessary. The problem with the older board was that opening index page. It would take forever to load and update if it got too long, so I had to trim back on messages from time to time. Now that this board keeps much nicer indexes, I won't have to trim it.

It is indeed. I've been on Second Life for a number of years now as Akea Grommet, who you might see posts from now and then on here. He's my "typical user" test account. As Admin, it's sometimes difficult for me to know exactly how a new board feature will react for registered users. He's my guinea pig to try things out.

The new message board is great. I remember posting back on the older one a few months ago and thinking how it was quite an outdated layout, wondering if it would ever be updated. I'm glad to see it has been, and it's looking pretty spiffy. ;)

Simple design that's easy to navigate and minimalised chances of seeing posts disappear forever? I'm liking it. :)

I like the new format, Following the Topics and posts is now a lot easier for me to do.

Eyes popped all the way open when I saw the new message board. I'd say it's mighty dandy! Kinda put it off for a while though ;P now it's not so delectable for spammers which I appreciate. =)

Hello there. New guy here.

Postby Arrimablari » Thu May 09, 2013 10:55 am

Hello all.

My name is Jason and I'm playing Guild Wars 2. I'm currently a college student Monday's and Wednesday's and any day homework is being done lol. Term starts Monday for me so I may be infrequent until I can get a rhythm going. My main is a level 80 Sylvari Thief named Noctilica Aneton. Most of my characters, if female, will have the surname "Aneton."

I hope to enjoy my time here and meet lots of new people.

Looks more like a spambot post to me.

I looked the post over several times...it looks genuine. I've seen gamer posts that looked stranger than this. I will agree it is in the wrong forum.

This forum is OK, but I'm having problems with it. I can't make any new topics, my post count is zero even though I made two posts, I almost lost my account because I almost forgot what my password was & it said I couldn't reset my password, I have to wait for approval on my posts and I can't send PMs. What is with all these restrictions and stuff? Is it because I'm new here or what?

New is exactly what it is, Nitro. Unfortunately, thanks to the asshole spammers of the Internet, we have to put controls in place to prevent them from overrunning this and any other board out there. Today alone we've had over 250 posts by spammers, over 40 for Nike Air alone. And 99 times out of 100, the sites these posts send people to either distribute viruses and malware, or they sell pirated (read fake) products. There's another area in the forum where the jokes talk about the site's 16,000 members. A very high portion of those accounts are spammers. As fast as I delete them, they create three more. For example, there were over 3,000 new accounts created last month alone. Now I should've caught that you were an active poster and updated your account sooner to normal user from newly registered. For that I apologize and that's been taken care of now. Welcome to the board!

OK, thank you for answering my question and activating my account BobR. And I forgot to mention that I wasn't authorized to use the search engine either before, but now I can. Thanks again. ;)
